Witness the legends of another age! Imagine the clash of armored knights on the field of battle and the revelry of great feasts. In the majestic Great Hall you will come face-to-visor with rare armor, swords, and other artifacts from times long past–witnesses to the splendor and drama of medieval and Renaissance Europe, of feudal Japan, even ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. You will discover the art, technology and heroic legacies our ancestors left behind.
The Higgins Armory Museum is the only institution in the Americas dedicated to arms, armor and related artifacts, and their cultural impact on the world today. The Higgins uses its specialized collection to teach the lessons of history.
Special exhibitions change biannually in the temporary exhibit gallery. Special events include the medieval Higgins Faire, Holidays at the Higgins and Founder’s Day. Adult and family programming— including lectures, swordplay demonstrations, fencing lessons, vacation camps and medieval banquets— are scheduled throughout the year.
The unique setting is perfect for family explorations, birthday parties, private functions and one-of-akind group and school tours. There are also “OverKnights” for youth/ scout groups where the children spend the night at “Castle Higgins.”
End your visit with a stop in the Museum Store, which carries unique gifts for nobles of all ages.
When they say “Once Upon a Time,” they mean here.
